Adam Smith - Foundation for Young Australians & Education Foundation

Adam Smith strives towards an Australia that is committed to ensuring every young person has access to opportunities that nurture their talent, celebrates their potential, and inspires them to achieve. He believes that, only when young Australians participate fully in shaping their communities through learning, leadership and decision-making, can we reap the social rewards offered by their passion, energy and responsibility. Adam is one of Australia's youngest CEOs, leading The Foundation For Young Australians - an independent national grant-making organisation, funding and working in partnership with youth-led initiatives which aim to positively contribute to young people and their communities.

Adam's values and expertise were shaped by work with the Coalition for the Homeless in New York, work in remote villages in Northern Thailand and in schools across Australia. As CEO, Adam previously led the Education Foundation through a period of significant transformation. An outstanding advocate for youth development, education and strategic philanthropy his views have been widely represented across the Australian and international media landscape. A highly sought after speaker and facilitator, Adam has spoken to more than 50,000 people across four continents including an address to the United Nations General Assembly. Adam is also a founding board member of Changemakers Australia and sits on the board of the US-based International Youth Foundation.

In recent years Adam's work has been recognised through three nominations for Young Australian of the Year; he was recipient of a 2004 Celebrating Melbourne Award, and was recognised, by 'The Age', as one of Australia's 40 most influential people under the age of 40. Adam's bold ambition, belief in potential, and his striking ability to connect with a range of audiences ensure those who meet him walk away feeling invigorated and inspired.
