This paper was presented by Sylvia Geddes at the Philanthropy Australia conference in 2003. It focuses on the R.E. Ross Trust's experience in determining its environmental focus, the factors influencing the Trust, and suggests ways in which all charitable trusts and foundations can develop a process for determining focus areas, developing guidelines and ensuring constant relevance.
