Rupert Myer AM completed an honours degree at Melbourne University before continuing to Cambridge University to complete an MA in social and political sciences. He is a Director of The Myer Foundation, a Board Member of The Felton Bequest committee, a Board member of the Yulgilbar Foundation and Chairman of the Aranday Foundation. He also serves as Chair of The National Gallery of Australia, as a Board Member of The National Gallery of Australia Foundation and as Chairman of Kaldor Art Projects.
Rupert became a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2005, for service to the arts, to support for museums and galleries, and to the community through a range of philanthropic and service organisations. His previous community activities have been as Chairman of the National Gallery of Victoria Foundation, International Social Service and WorkPlacement and as a board member of The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and a trustee of The National Gallery of Victoria. He chaired the Commonwealth Government's Inquiry into the Contemporary Visual Arts and Craft Sector.
